On Monday, June 29, the 2015 Peggy Kirk Bell Girls’ Golf Tour played the One-Day Open Series at Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation. Olde Sycamore, recognized as the “Best New Course” by Charlotte’s Best Magazine, was a wonderful course for this one-day tournament. One-day tournaments are designed for golfers of all skill levels, but are a great place for development golfers to “get in to the swing of things” playing tournament golf. The goal of One-Day Open Series events is to provide a fun and friendly tournament on a premium golf course. The event featured a field 22 players from the PKB Girls’ Golf Tour, the nation’s largest “girls’ only” junior tour with over 425 members in 2014 and over 350 girls playing in or committed to collegiate golf.
In the Prep Series, Parker Melting (Mint Hill, NC 2018) shot seven over par with a score of 79 to place first. Ryann Sinclair (Mooresville, NC 2019) shot 10 over par with a score of 82 to place second. Alexis Jarrell (Davidson, NC 2018) shot 12 over par with a score of 84 to place third.
In the Futures Series, Madison Cross (Hickory, NC 2016) shot seven over par with a score of 79 to place first. There was a four-way tie for second between Lauren Nee (Cary, NC 2019), Emma Roberts (Burlington, NC 2016), Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, NC 2019), and Kelley Topiwala (Matthews, NC 2020) who all shot nine over par each with scores of 81.
PKBGT returns to action next week with the One-Day Open Series at Pinewood Country Club in Asheboro, NC. The events bring together players from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.
